Leaders Lead -- Even in a Pandemic

Leaders Lead -- Even in a Pandemic

With all due apologies to Bob Dylan, it is clear that times are changing. And the businesses that adapt best to the change will be ones that do best. This adaption will come through good leadership.

Many small business owners are not good leaders. They tend to be creative people who have an idea and run with it. These creative people get their followers — mostly those enthused by idea or the charisma. But once enthusiasm wanes (and it will — it always does, eventually) and the charisma wears thin, people look to leaders to lead them. Employees look to leaders to lead them. And good leaders lead — that’s what they do.

Running a business? Lead by example. Treat your employees well and they will follow.

Running a business? Ask for help. It’s not a sign of weakness. It’s actually a sign of strength.

Running a business? Learn patience. The world does operate according to your schedule. You operate according to the world’s schedule.

Running a business? Make sure your record keeping is infallible. Records — date, if you will — are the lifeblood of a business is so many different ways.

Running a business? Be kind to yourself. Good leadership mandates kindness, even to yourself.
