What's Your New Normal? Revising your strategy going forward

WIth the litany of COVID-19 bulletin this and Coronavirus bulletin that, it seems that practically every law firm, accounting firm, financial management firm and a half-dozen other firms are reading the same press releases.

But what about how you run your business? Once the dust settles, will your business be in a position to take off, like the mythical phoenix? Here are a couple things to think about as you rework your business strategy:

  • Be prepared to treat your workers differently. If they’ve been furloughed, they may be on edgy when they return. If they’ve been working from home, they may not be eager to be back in the office. You’ll have to figure out how to deal with them the best way possible — whatever that “best” may be for each individual.

  • Analyze your operations. What’s redundant? What can be reconfigured and improved when you press the reset button?

  • Talk to your customers. Talk, talk, talk. Their needs have changed, are changing or will change. Be there to meet their needs — whatever they may be.

  • Plan for stability. If you make sure your business is rock solid stable, it will be better able to adapt, flex and evolve. Side-note — get rid of debt. It’s like wearing an anchor while swimming.
