Steps to Reopen Your Business

Steps to Reopen Your Business

With Governor DeWine slowly allowing businesses to reopen, businesses have to take steps to try to keep their workers and customers safe. These steps include:

  • Encourage employees who have childcare issues or are high-risk to work from home.

  • Consider splitting your employees into 2 or more teams, so that not everyone is the building at the same time.

  • Provide PPE to your employees to wear and either require them to be worn or strongly suggest it.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.

  • Provide hand sanitizer and wipes throughout the entire workplace.  The ENTIRE workplace.

  • Encourage Zoom, GoTo, WebEx or whatever videoconferencing your prefer for your meetings – even if everyone is in the office.

  • Encourage your employees to call each other on the phone, even if they’re both in the office.  Discourage “popping in” to co-workers offices for chats.

  • Prop open internal doors during work hours.

Kroger, the nation’s largest grocery store chain, has had to address a lot of these issues since it is an essential business. Kroger has decided to help other businesses by sharing what it has learned. It has published a 48 page manual called “Sharing What We Learned: A Blueprint for Businesses,” To download a copy of this, click here.
