Small Business: Attitude Makes All the Difference
The difference between a small business and a big business? In the big business, the ergonomic department will make sure you fit your chair, desk and computer properly. In the small business, everyone sits on the floor and assembles the new desks that were bought, with, as Don Harkey of People Centric Consulting notes, somebody exclaiming, proudly, “Hashtag Small Business!”
But, as Harkey writes, small business owners who attempt to do “everything” fail to see the forest for the trees. “Small businesses should surround themselves with experts to provide key services and insights for they can stay focused on culture and strategy.”
If a small business owner does not focus on culture and strategy — if he/she fails to maintain the right attitude for the team — then the business goes adrift, morale sags and the organic team spirit vanishes.
